- Sunday Scripture Readings
- Reflection on the Scriptures has become
more and more a part of basic Christian spirituality. At times
we would like to return to the Sunday Scriptures at home, but
we do not have the missalette with us. At other times we may
be interested in seeing just what came before or immediately
after the reading for the day to gain more insights.
To encourage this encounter with
the Scriptures, we will be including in the bulletin the scripture
reading references for the current Sunday and the following Sunday.
In addition, in our on-line bulletin we will have the actual
links to the readings.

- QUESTIONS OF THE
WEEK
- Third Sunday
of Easter
-
- Three times Jesus asks
Peter to feed his sheep. Although this triple call mirrors Peters
triple denial, Jesus does not intend to embarrass Peter but to
heal him. Accepting Christs renewed invitation, Peter moves
forward to lead the Church.
-
- Adults: With whom do I sense resentment
or bad will? Am I open to reconcile with that person?
Children: Do I know that no matter how many times
I have done wrong God will give me another chance?

At the beginning of our Campaign last weekend,
we had been given 12 baby bottles to fill; all 12 were taken!
Please go to the Gathering Space in church and check out the
display because we were given an additional 12 bottles to fill!!Remember,
the Pregnancy Resource Center is a locally organized and funded
ministry which offers life-affirming education to women and families.
The resources from the local churches and community are used
to alleviate some of the problems facing these women who have
found themselves in a crisis pregnancy situation. The goal this
year is to raise $12,000.
Bottles should be returned to the Gathering Space
on the weekend of April 24/25. CATHOLIC HOME

WORDS OF LIFE BULLETIN
BRIEFS
(from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops
Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities, 2010)
- The Church offers the world
a positive and inspiring vision of human life, the beauty of
marriage and the joy of parenthood. It is rooted in Gods
infinite, transforming and ennobling love for all of us, which
opens our eyes to recognize and love his image in our neighbour.
Be sure to present this teaching in such a way that it
is recognized for the message of hope that it is. All too often
the Churchs doctrine is perceived as a series of prohibitions
and retrograde positions, whereas the reality, as we know, is
that it is creative and life-giving, and it is directed towards
the fullest possible realization of the great potential for good
and for happiness that God has implanted within every one of
us.

Asperges
Many parishes use the rite of sprinkling
at every Mass during the Easter season because this blessing
is so appropriate during this time of baptismal renewal. At the
beginning of every funeral, the Presider blesses the casket with
holy water and says, In the waters of Baptism N. died with
Christ and rose with him to new life. May he/she now share in
Christs eternal glory. Holy water is found at the
entrance to the church to remind us that it was through Baptism
that we entered the community called church. During this rite
of sprinkling some people cringe and duck to avoid getting wet,
while others beam with joy and excitement. Both reactions are
appropriate. Baptism makes us one with Christ in His death and
resurrection. We cringe at what it calls us to do: die to self.
We are overjoyed at what it makes us: children of one Father,
members of Christs body, heirs of the kingdom. In the words
of the Peace Prayer of St. Francis, our baptism promises us that
it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
